Chain Link Fence & Wire Mesh Fence Price Guide 2026: Factory FOB Tianjin Prices

Chain Link Fence & Wire Mesh Fence Price Guide 2026: Factory FOB Tianjin Prices

Written by the export team at Haobo Metal. We ship fence mesh and complete fence systems from Tianjin every month, and this guide uses the same numbers our quotation desk works from — not rounded-up brochure figures.

Fence pricing has the same problem as gabion pricing, just worse: "how much is fencing per meter?" is a question that can't be answered until you say which wire, which mesh, which height, and galvanized to what. A $2.9/m mesh and a $6/m mesh can both be honest prices for "fence" — they're just different products.

So instead of one number, here's the full picture: factory prices for fence mesh by height, the standard export specification for chain link systems, what galvanizing actually costs you, and where the hidden extras live.

1. Quick Answer: Fence Prices at a Glance

For heavy galvanized fence mesh — 5.0mm wire, 60×200mm opening — factory-direct FOB Tianjin, priced per linear meter of fence at different heights:

Fence HeightFOB Tianjin (per linear meter)Typical Use
1.5 m$2.90 / mBoundary, agriculture, gardens
1.8 m$3.30 / mGeneral security — schools, compounds
2.0 m$3.60 / mPerimeter security, restricted sites

Those are mesh prices: the fence fabric itself, hot-dip galvanized, rolled and loaded. Complete systems with posts, frames, and fittings are priced per project (section 6 explains why), and light-gauge chain link runs cheaper while heavier security specs run higher.

2. What You're Actually Paying For

Four cost buckets, in order of size:

  • Steel wire — the dominant cost, and it moves with the commodity market. This is why honest fence quotes carry a validity date, and why the same order can price differently in March and July.
  • Zinc. Fencing lives outdoors its entire life; the coating is not optional. Chinese national standard GB/T 26941.1-2011 for wire fencing calls for wire tensile strength of ≥350 MPa and hot-dip zinc coating of ≥275 g/m² — a bit heavier than the gabion standard, because fence wire is thinner and more exposed.
  • Weaving or welding labor — plus straightening, cutting, rolling or panelizing.
  • Packing and loading. Rolls and panels load differently; a good factory packs to the container, not to the roll.

Same as with gabions: if a fence quote is dramatically below the band, the discount is usually hiding in the wire diameter or the zinc weight. Ask for both in writing.

3. Why Height Drives the Price Per Meter

Fence mesh is priced by weight, and weight scales with height. A 2.0m fence uses a third more wire than a 1.5m fence over the same run — which is why the per-meter price climbs the way the table shows, and why "price per meter" without a height attached is a meaningless number.

Choosing height is a spec decision before it's a budget decision:

  • 1.5m — boundary marking, agriculture, residential gardens. Keeps livestock in and pedestrians honest; not a serious barrier.
  • 1.8m — the general-purpose security height. Schools, compounds, warehouses, light industry. If you're unsure, this is the default.
  • 2.0m — serious perimeter security, restricted sites, anything where climbing matters.
  • 3.0m and above — prisons, ports, critical infrastructure; usually engineered as complete systems (next section).

4. Chain Link Fence: The Standard Export Specification

For buyers sourcing complete chain link systems, here's the specification we export most often — it's a workable baseline you can adjust up or down:

  • Height: 3.0 m (for security-class perimeters)
  • Post spacing: 2.0 m between posts
  • Mesh: chain link fabric, 3.0mm wire, 50×50mm (5×5cm) diamond openings
  • Frame tube: round tube Ø48mm × 1.0mm wall
  • Post tube: round tube Ø60mm × 1.5mm wall
  • Coating: hot-dip galvanized to GB/T 26941.1-2011 (≥275 g/m² on the wire), with PVC powder-coating available where color or extra corrosion resistance is needed

Chain link's virtues are price and speed: it ships in rolls, follows terrain without grading, and repairs with a pair of pliers. Its weakness is rigidity — for high-security sites that need anti-climb, anti-cut performance, welded mesh panels or added razor wire are the usual upgrade.

5. Galvanizing: The Cost You Can't See

Every fence looks galvanized in the product photo. The difference between a fence that's still sound in year fifteen and one that's rusting at the ground line in year five is coating weight, and you cannot see it by looking.

Our rule of thumb for export fencing:

  • ≥275 g/m² hot-dip (GB/T 26941.1-2011 standard) — the correct baseline for most outdoor fencing in temperate and dry climates.
  • Heavier zinc or Galfan — worth specifying for coastal sites, marine ports, and anywhere salt spray or industrial pollution reaches the fence line.
  • PVC coating over galvanized wire — doubles up protection and gives you green or black finish; common for stadium, school, and residential fencing where appearance matters.

When comparing quotes, demand the coating weight as a number on the spec sheet — "hot-dip galvanized" alone means nothing, because 80 g/m² is technically still galvanized. The mill test certificate settles it.

6. Posts, Frames, and Complete System Pricing

Mesh gets the glory, but a fence stands on its posts. Complete systems — mesh plus posts, frames, tension wire, fittings, and fixings — are always quoted per project rather than listed, because the variables multiply:

  • Post type and wall thickness (the Ø60×1.5mm tube in our standard spec, or heavier for high fences and wind zones)
  • Frame or frameless design; welded panel versus chain link fabric
  • Ground conditions — driven posts, concreted posts, or base plates change the steel and the labor
  • Wind loading, especially for 3m+ fences and coastal sites
  • Coating regime on the tubes (galvanized, or galvanized + powder coat)

A practical budgeting approach: price the mesh from the table above, then expect the complete installed system's material cost to be a multiple of the mesh cost — the posts and fittings are not a rounding error. For a firm number, send the perimeter length and site details and we'll lay out the full bill of materials.

7. MOQ, Lead Time, and Shipping

Item What to Expect
Minimum order Fence mesh is more flexible than gabion — small container loads are workable, with pricing improving sharply at full-container quantities.
Lead time Standard specs run 10–20 days production. Custom heights, PVC coating colors, or complete systems with posts add time.
Shipping Standard quote is FOB Tianjin; CIF available. Mesh rolls load efficiently; posts and tubes take more cube — mixed containers are the economical format.

8. How to Get an Accurate Quote in 24 Hours

Five details get you a firm number the same day:

  1. Purpose and height — boundary, security, or high-security, and the fence height you need
  2. Wire diameter and mesh opening — or describe the threat level and we'll recommend
  3. Coating — standard hot-dip ≥275 g/m², or PVC-coated in green/black
  4. Mesh only, or complete system — if complete: perimeter length, ground type, and post preference
  5. Quantity and destination port

Send those through WhatsApp or the contact form — you'll get the quotation with coating weights, standard references, and a loading plan, in writing.
