Available in two primary profiles — BTO-22 (0.5mm blade thickness, 34mm barb spacing) and CBT-65 (0.6mm blade thickness, 100mm barb spacing) — our razor wire products meet ASTM F1910-98(2018) and ISO 1461 hot-dip galvanizing standards. What is the difference between BTO-22 and CBT-65 razor wire?
BTO-22 features tightly packed blades at 34mm spacing, creating a dense, intimidating barrier ideal for prison perimeters and high-security facilities. CBT-65 has larger blades at wider 100mm spacing, covering more linear distance per coil — better suited for long perimeter runs and border security. BTO-22 maximizes deterrence per meter; CBT-65 maximizes coverage per coil. Both are manufactured to ASTM F1910 standards with identical galvanizing options.
What galvanizing grade should I choose for my environment?
For temporary or short-term installations, 60-80 g/m² zinc coating is sufficient. For general perimeter security in non-coastal areas, ≥120 g/m² (ASTM A90/A90M Class 1) is standard. For coastal, tropical, or high-humidity environments, ≥245 g/m² (ISO 1461 Class 3) is strongly recommended to prevent premature corrosion. Powder coating over galvanized wire provides an additional barrier layer and color options (green, black, grey).
Which coil diameter should I select for my project?
450mm coils are compact for wall-top installations and narrow perimeters. 500mm is the standard for general security fencing. 600mm provides medium-level deterrence for industrial sites. 700mm is heavy-duty for high-security and border control. 960mm offers maximum deterrence for military-grade applications. Cross-type (double coil) configurations provide approximately 1.5x the coverage width of a single coil at the same diameter.
How many linear meters does one coil cover?
A standard single coil covers approximately 10-15 linear meters when stretched to operational diameter, depending on coil diameter and tension. A 500mm single coil typically covers ~12m at operational tension. Cross-type coils cover ~8-10m per coil. What is the weight per coil for different specifications?
Weight varies by blade thickness, coil diameter, and coil type. A single coil at 0.3mm / 450mm diameter weighs approximately 4-7 kg depending on stretched length. A cross-type high-zinc coil at 0.45mm / 500mm weighs approximately 6.6 kg per 10m length. BTO-22 (0.5mm blade) cross-type coils typically weigh 6-10 kg. Why choose hot-dip galvanized over stainless steel razor wire?
Hot-dip galvanized (≥120 g/m²) razor wire provides excellent corrosion resistance at a significantly lower cost than stainless steel. It is the industry standard for border control, military, and correctional facilities worldwide. For coastal or highly corrosive environments, high-zinc galvanizing (≥245 g/m²) or a powder coating over galvanized wire offers protection comparable to 201 stainless steel at a fraction of the cost. 304 stainless steel is available for extreme marine environments but is not recommended for standard applications due to cost.
